If you’re new to production the name might not mean that much to you unless you have done your research.  Rob Papen and his development team have produced such a fabulous series of virtual instruments and plug-ins for your host production software. From Blue, RG to Predator and SubBoomBass – Rob Papen synths have helped many dance music producers find that killer hook, warm pad or complimentary sound.

We will show you who actually uses these and how in their productions, read on to be inspired by the big guys…

BUSHWACKA (Matthew Benjamin):

Bushwacka1Blue was the first one I bought and I find it so rich and warm especially for pads, filtered chords, and arpeggio melodies. It is very easy to program and you can get great results very quickly with just a few tweaks.

The new SubBoomBass plug-in has totally changed my productions in a really good way. It is instantly able to add the right frequencies to my tracks with very little altering of the sounds and the balance in the mix so far really works for me. I haven´t delved too deep into the sequencer or effects on it as yet because the sounds often do the job without needing any changes. It is fantastic.”

SANDER VAN DOORN:

SVD6Predator has a lovely wooden sound so it´s great for percussive elements. It´s great to use for noises that fill a track, do although I may not use it for main riffs I´ll almost always use it in my productions.

Pure Vida, sushi, and Purple Haze ´bliksem´ all got the predator treatment!

ROB TISSERA:

Rob_Tissera2I produce both house music and hard trance which are two very different styles but I´ve found Predator to be incredibly flexible with both genres. SubBoomBass is ridiculously great too. I love this thing to bits! I also love Albino and Blue as you can stack so many oscillators on top of each other to create enormous layered sounds. His RG plug is also  a great bit of kit!

Predator is fantastic for house ´dub´ bass and little square leads. I´ve just done a track called ´Come One´ with Juan Kidd under my BOBBY TEE alter ego which is currently climbing up the Beatport chart which is full of Papen sounds.

On the harder front, I´ve just done a track called ´Freefallin´ on Tidy Records. That has a great bass sound in it that I got from RP´S SubBoomBass plug-in.

The Rob Papen collection is used by some of the biggest names in contemporary music production, including Armin Van Buuren, Junkie XL and Teddy Riley as well as the above, the list goes on.

Whatever style of dance music or electronica you are into, then you should definitely be looking to add a Rob Papen Virtual Instrument to your arsenal of VST’s, AU and effects plug-ins.
