Whilst the Native Instruments Kontrol X1 is getting a lot of interest and exposure, a few things did cross my mind when training with NI on the Kontrol X1.
Obviously the Kontrol X1 is designed to compliment Traktor Scratch Pro timecode users and even Serato Scratch Live users (as it comes with the SSL template overlay). But what about us full digital DJ controllerists looking for an all-in-one controller such as Vestax has offered with the Vestax TR-1 and VCI-100?
During the training I questioned why it was called the Traktor Kontrol X1 and what about a Traktor Kontrol X2 or even an X4. Of course I got no answer but from the expressions on the faces I have a feeling another more komplete controller is soon to be announced. (Probably after they see whether the Kontrol X1 does well or not).
Depending on the price point I think Vestax and the other higher end controller manufacturers should be worried, more-so Allen & Heath with the price point on their Xone:DX.
Just keep an eye out for something in the near future ;)
You can purchase a Traktor Kontrol X1 from Soundware in the UK here.

nice job on the graphic… im seriously considering buying an X1. that’s a prime idea fusing it with half-a-maschine. We will see how correct you are sometime in the next year or so…
